Hilary is a highly experienced and enthusiastic music educator. She aims to inspire students and instil in them a love for the guitar. Teaching students of all ages in both individual and group environments, Hilary is accomplished at teaching a range of styles including rock, blues, jazz, folk and pop. Hilary currently teaches at the Guitar Factory School in Gladesville, the Big Note School of Music in Vaucluse and also offers private tuition.
In 2018, Hilary graduated from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music with First Class Honours, studying with Carl Dewhurst, Dr. Kevin Hunt and Mike Rivett while she was there. In 2016 and 2017, Hilary studied abroad at the Hochschule für Künste Bremen in Bremen, Germany, finishing her year there with a high distinction average.
In 2011 Hilary was awarded "Griffith Young Musician of the Year" and has also been nominated for a Canberra Area Theatre Award for her role as répétiteur in "Griffith! - The Musical". From this experience, she is adept at leading and conducting large ensembles and was the New College Musical Director in their 2014 Revue. She has also toured the USA as the guitarist in the Jazz Workshop Australia big band and currently performs regularly with 10 piece ensemble, Pharos (formerly known as the Sydney Women's Jazz Collective).
